A recent tertiary education and bursary drive reached over 200 Grade 12 learners across four high schools in the Madibeng Local Municipality, offering crucial information and guidance on pursuing tertiary education and securing bursary opportunities. Funded by De Wildt Solar, in collaboration with the Khenn Institute, this initiative equipped learners with resources to facilitate their application processes and take the next steps toward achieving their academic and career goals.
“This tertiary and bursary drive is part of our commitment to fostering long-term development in the community through educational support. By empowering young people with access to higher education, we aim to create a positive ripple effect that will uplift the entire community, ultimately contributing to a successful future for these learners,” stated Letllhogonolo Lesie, Community Liaison Officer for De Wildt Solar.
The initiative, held at each participating school, namely, Mothutlung High School, Malatse Motsepe High School, Tsogo Secondary School, and Botlhabelo High School, served as a bridge between high school and tertiary education. It was especially valuable for learners from underprivileged backgrounds, providing them with resources and guidance they might not otherwise have to pursue higher education opportunities.
Principal Setshedi of Mothutlung High School highlighted the importance of this initiative, saying, “In many cases, our learners lack the resources or guidance to meet their educational goals. Through initiatives like this, we are not only giving them hope but also practical tools to secure a brighter future. We hope to see many of our learners go on to pursue their dreams and give back to their communities.”
